Based on the popular dynamics section of the ATI Paragon mixing consoles of the ’90s, the API Audio SV12 is an analog compressor module for 500-series racks. Sporting variable threshold, ratio, and makeup gain controls, switchable soft or hard knee compression, and API’s patented THRUST circuitry for low-end punch, the SV12 is a more than capable all-purpose compressor.

You can select compression ratios between 1:1 and 10:1. The switchable In switch provides a quick and easy bypass function. Separate onboard LED meters are dedicated to output level (4-segment meter) and gain reduction (8-segment meter) along with an LED indicator for when signals exceed the set threshold level. Finally, a Link switch is provided for situations when you have two SV12 compressors installed, allowing you to engage in linked stereo dynamics processing, with left and right signals summed via true RMS power.

A Paragon of Compression

The SV12 is the same compressor circuit originally designed for all ATI Paragon mixing consoles. ATI was founded in 1988 to manufacture audio equipment for live sound reinforcement use.
