The ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system offers the uniquely cinematic ARRI look with its Super 35-sized 4K sensor, enabling the ongoing trend of shallow depth of field in live productions. It captures 17 stops of dynamic range, more than any other camera on the market, handling extreme lighting situations for the best results in both SDR and HDR.
Seamless Integration with Live Multicamera Environments
The ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system provides all the common live production shading controls to carry the ARRI tradition of stunningly beautiful images into the live realm. Going even further, the ALEXA 35 offers additional creative options that can quickly give any project a fresh look.
Choice of Creative Looks
The built-in ARRI Look Library provides 87 cinematic looks that control color in three intensities and can be activated at the push of a button, catering to a huge variety of shooting scenarios. In addition, several specially developed Multicam looks provide time-saving presets for typical live production scenarios such as studios, concerts, or ski racing.
Uncompressed, Fiber-Based 4K Video
The included Live Production System LPS-1 comprises the Fiber Camera Adapter and the Fiber Base Station. They can be connected either with a hybrid fiber cable that delivers both power and uncompressed 4K video over distances up to 1.2 miles or with a tactical fiber cable up to 6.2 miles in length. An extra fiber tunnel and Ethernet tunnel increase the system’s flexibility with additional video, audio, or control signals.
Multicam Support Set 2
Comprised of a TOP-1 top plate, LPH-2 top handle, and Touchdown baseplate system, the Multicam Support Set 2 enables you to quickly switch between handheld and tripod-based video capture. The LPH-2 Live Production Handle features a NATO rail with support for monitors like the LPM-1.
LLA-1 Large Lens Adapter
The included LLA-1 Large Lens Adapter is a sturdy housing that connects all B4 or PL box lenses, including the Fujinon Duvo HZK 25-1000mm, to the camera. The LLA-1 has a special quick-fit clamping mechanism for a fast setup. The lens is wired to the camera with either the included Cable Hirose to Box Lens or the included LLA-1 Control Module. This Pro system also includes the LLA-1 plate for ALEXA 35 and the LLA-1 flight case.
Fiber Camera Adapter
The Fiber Camera Adapter FCA-1 mounts on the camera quickly and easily via a satisfyingly robust and self-aligning mechanical interface, creating a unified form that is easy to work with. This unit features a single FCA-to-Ethernet cable link, familiar connections, and intuitive controls.
Fiber Base Station
The included Fiber Base Station supports multiple simultaneous outputs like UHD 4K with 1080p or 1080i HD video. It incorporates a broadcast-quality down-converter, a redundant power supply, a 2-channel intercom, and pro audio inputs and outputs. It includes future-proof SMPTE 2110 IP capabilities and a SMPTE 2022-7 seamless protection switching redundant network for absolute reliability. The SMPTE 311 hybrid fiber cable with copper connections provides up to 400W of camera and accessory power and transmits uncompressed 4K video.
Upgradeable with Separately Available Licenses
- Upgrade your Base set with additional licenses when or if they’re needed on a temporary or permanent basis.
- Temporary licenses are available for 7 or 30 days or for annual periods.
NOTE: These upgrades are available only on the ARRI License Shop site. Licenses include ARRIRAW, 660 fps high speed, Open Gate/Anamorphic, Pre-Record, and ARRI Looks and Textures options. - The Premium License is a bundle consisting of the five separate options above.
NOTE: The Premium bundle is priced the same as the individual upgrades, enabling you to add each license feature as you desire for greater affordability.
High Frame Rates to 660 fps with Upgrade
With frame rates up to 660 fps, the ALEXA 35 XTREME saves money and helps to streamline your production by eliminating the need to carry a separate high-speed camera body. Its new main processor provides more memory and faster speeds for capturing up to 330 fps with the full 17 stops of dynamic range and up to 660 fps within 11 stops of dynamic range.
ARRICORE Codec
The next-gen, RGB ARRICORE codec offers greater affordability via reduced data rates while maintaining optimal image quality. By not «baking in» sensitivity, white balance, or tint, ARRICORE provides post-production flexibility, and it is consistent with existing ALEXA 35 codecs, ensuring easy on-set and post workflows. ARRICORE offers familiar ARRI textures, metadata, MFX wrappers, and audio behavior, plus support for most third-party tools. This ARRICORE beta version will be finessed, incorporating user feedback.
Reduced Power Consumption
The 24V ALEXA 35 XTREME camera provides a 10% power savings over the ALEXA 35 and can be powered using the included ARRI B-mount battery adapter and separately available batteries. The versatile B-mount system can also power both 12 and 24V accessories, saving you the weight and space required when using two separate batteries. Third-party adapters from Anton Bauer, Hawk-Woods, and CORE SWX can be used with compatible 26V batteries. The included PDM-1 Power Distribution Module can be used to add seven more accessory power ports.
Full Creative Control
The ALEXA 35 Live XTREME system may be used with a variety of established remote control panels. The recommended tool of choice is the separately available Skaarhoj RCP, which combines classic RCP handling with a powerful, fully customizable interface, making the most of the camera’s exceptional image quality and offering additional creative possibilities.
Dedicated Multicam Accessories
The ALEXA 35 Live XTREME System is available in different sets that meet the varied needs of customers. Multicam extension sets are also available for ALEXA 35 owners who want to expand into the live production market. A critical part of these sets is the many bespoke accessories that ARRI has created to tailor the system to different styles of live, multicamera shooting. Separately available components include the Touchdown Baseplate system, the LPH-1 Live Production Handle, the LLA-1 Large Lens Adapter, the TLM-1 Tally Light Module, the MYS-1L Monitor Yoke Support, and a series of SAM Stabilizer Adapter Mounts.
Versatile Lens Choices
- This set comes with an LBUS PL mount and PL adapter, providing compatibility with a wide array of cine-style lenses.
- Additional lens mount adapters are available separately, offering access to a vast selection of existing modern and vintage lenses in spherical, anamorphic, Super 35, and large format options.
- The ALEXA 35 XTREME is compatible with all common metadata standards and can stream metadata in real time using an optional plug-in.
User Interfaces
For fast setup and easy configuration, the ALEXA 35 Live XTREME Multicam System is equipped with several carefully considered user interfaces, providing control when and where you need it. A jog wheel and display on both the Fiber Camera Adapter and the Fiber Base Station provide a status display and enable on-the-spot adjustments, saving time and hassle. The ARRI Webremote enables full control of the camera, while a Multicam web interface provides full configuration of the Fiber Camera Adapter and Fiber Base Station, including signal routing, diagnostics, and software updates. The Skaarhoj Reactor web interface allows for full control, configuration, and updating of the separately available Skaarhoj RCP.
